RAHMUS

RAHMUS is an instrumental surf-metal band dedicated to the ideals of the Enlightenment and the wisdom of the Socratic Method. The band's music is driven by the belief that many of humanity's greatest problems can be traced to religion's influence on society. RAHMUS rejects the notion that morality or meaning require religion, arguing instead that the natural world offers wonder enough and that human morality is innate. Religion is not regarded as something beyond criticism, but as an institution to be openly debated and ridiculed. While respecting the freedom of individuals to hold religious beliefs, RAHMUS advocates that those beliefs remain personal rather than imposed on others. RAHMUS's live performances feature confrontational anti-theistic imagery, including the symbolic destruction of religious texts. The band's presentation is intentionally provocative and encourages open criticism and debate of religious ideas.
